În anul 1930, ea a fost aleasă în funcția de primar al orașului Lipova în urma primelor alegeri din istoria României în care femeile au putut vota și candida. A fost soția politicianului, deputatului și ministrului Sever Bocu.
English: Marilena Bocu (or Marilina Bocu) was one of the first three female mayors in Romania. In 1930, she was elected mayor of Lipova following the first elections in Romania's history in which women could vote and run for office. She was the wife of the politician, legislator and minister Sever Bocu.
